EBEC - 2026 Abstract call for Oral and Poster Presentations
We welcome you to submit your abstract for posters and selected oral presentations. All submissions are free of charge, and accepted abstracts will be published as a part of BBA – Bioenergetics (Special EBEC Issue).
March 27th - extended to April 3rd
• Abstract deadline for consideration for selected Oral presentation (see below).
April 3rd - extended to May 8th
• Abstract deadline Poster presentation (Included in the BBA Bioenergetics Special Issue and in the EBEC-2026 Congress book)
April 24th
• Selected Oral presentations announced.
May 8th
• Accepted abstracts with registered participant(s) at this date will be included in the BBA Bioenergetics Special Issue and in the EBEC-2026 Congress book.
June 26th
• Late Abstracts for poster presentation will be accepted until June 26th. Approved Late Abstracts will be available online during the conference and will be assigned a poster number for presentation during one of the poster sessions, but will not be included in the printed Congress Abstract book or in the BBA-Bioenergetics EBEC-2026 Special Issue.
Abstract consideration and presentation
Abstracts for poster and oral presentations will be considered continuously and their acceptance will be notified by email. Posters will be presented in one of four Poster sessions during the meeting. We aim to also accept as many presentations as possible for talks.
Authors selected for Oral presentation will be notified via email by April 26th at the latest.
Accepted abstracts with at least one accompanying registration (deadline May 8th) will be published in a Congress volume in BBA - Bioenergetics Special Issue. Invited speakers will additionally receive an invitation to contribute with a research article or an invited review to the same special issue. Sponsored by Elsevier, this volume will be used as the EBEC-2026 Congress book during the meeting. Lists of abstracts and participants that do not meet this deadline, will only be available online during the meeting. The authors may request a preferred type of presentation. The conference organizers will be responsible for the final selection of oral and poster presentations from the submitted abstracts.
Abstract submission
Abstracts must be submitted through the conference website.
For accepted abstracts to be included in the EBEC-2026 Congress book, authors (at least one) need to register as a participant in EBEC-2026 on May 8th at the latest.
Please note that all presentations will take place on site. It is important that we have the correct name of the presenter so the program is correct. If the submitting author is not the one presenting on site, please send the presenter's name and e-mail address to tuva@mkon.se.
Instructions for the authors
1. Abstracts should be written in standard English.
2. Abstracts should be submitted by text input only.
3. Abstract text shall include the following content (no subheadings needed):
• Introduction (background/aims)
• Methods
• Results
• Conclusion
4. Please use the abstract template provided on the registration page. The Abstract text should be a single paragraph and should not exceed 400 words, except for the title, authors, and affiliations.
5. We will not accept any image or files in the abstract.
6. Abstracts will be published in the Congress book, which will also be published as a Conference volume in BBA Bioenergetics. When you accept the terms in the Abstract Submission, you will accept these terms of publication.
Poster presentation
Poster size is A0 in portrait orientation (841 mm × 1189 mm). On site in the congress hall, there is an information desk where staff can assist you with information and materials for setting up, etc. The posters are presented in a poster session. Be prepared to give a 1-2 min brief of your poster. You must take down your poster at the time you will be assigned; otherwise, there is a risk that your poster will be thrown away.
We offer poster printing in advance for 500 SEK excluding VAT. Printed posters can be collected at the registration desk during the conference.

Oral presentation
Abstracts selected for Oral presentation will be informed of details on acceptance.
The allocated presentation time includes both the oral presentation and discussion period:
10-minute talk: 8 minutes presentation + 2 minutes discussion
20-minute talk: 17 minutes presentation + 3 minutes discussion
